You Made Shared Parenting Day Special

April 26 is Shared Parenting Day, a day now formally recognized by six states and the city of El Paso, Texas. The day commemorates April 26, 2018, when, as a result of the work of NPO’s Matt Hale, Kentucky became the first state to enact an explicit equal shared parenting law. Since that day, Arkansas and West Virginia have joined the club and the Florida legislature has passed an equal shared parenting bill that is on its way to the governor’s office.  Seventeen other states are considering equal shared parenting bills, too.

This year, NPO took steps to raise the profile of Shared Parenting day. We produced and distributed a video celebrating the day.  And, for the first time, NPO launched a Shared Parenting Day Fundraising Campaign.

Longtime NPO supporter Mark Halle made a generous challenge grant, pledging to match contributions up to $5,000.

Challenge met! NPO supporters rose to the challenge and contributed more than enough to meet Mark’s challenge. The Shared Parenting Day Campaign was a huge success.

NPO is an almost all volunteer organization. Fueled by the passion of our volunteers to benefit children and parents across the nation, NPO operates with very low overhead. Still, of course, funds are needed for NPO to continue to be the national leader in family law reform.

Your heartfelt contributions  allow NPO to continue the great work we have done such as passing groundbreaking equal shared parenting legislation in Kentucky and West Virginia, assisting in passing equal shared parenting legislation in Arkansas, and advancing legislation in many other states. They also  help us to continue to produce and publish pioneering research like the  2019 NPO Shared Parenting Report Card and the 2022 NPO Child Support and Shared Parenting Report Card, both of  which garnered significant press coverage and and provide powerful tools for our affiliates to use to prompt their state legislators to improve child custody and child support laws. We still have much work to do to achieve our mission of ensuring that no child loses a full relationship with either parent because the parents choose to live apart. Support from donors like you will make this possible.

Thank you for making our first Shared Parenting Day Fundraising Campaign a great success!
